Microdiscectomy

Microdiscectomy

The spine is an essential organ. It is slender and tunnels like in structure. It is connected to the brain and waist. It helps us in understanding straight, sitting up and getting down. Sometimes the spine may get affected due to age or ailment like back pain. In this situation, it becomes necessary to consult a spine surgeon specialist. Back pain and sciatica pain commonly affect spine health. When it becomes unbearable one has to go for Microdiscectomy. This is the most recommended surgery in this case

A Herniated disc is located in the back and it helps in standing and sitting down.

Microdiscectomy has become the most common form of surgery. This is a very specific surgery to remove the spine ailment. In microdiscectomy, minimal invasive techniques are used to remove damaged herniated discs. This is the surgery for correcting herniated lumbar discs. In this surgery, surgeons use invasive poke hole incision to remove damaged disc herniation. This is the best surgery to remove sciatica pain when it stays for prolonged periods.

Most sciatica pain will go away on its own. But if it persists for a long time surgery is the only viable option.

Its benefits:

Most surgeons prefer this surgery as it is very effective in healing and treating sciatica pain. Today most doctors use this technique to solve this common problem.

1. Removes sciatica pain.

It is very efficient in removing sciatica pain. It does this by removing the damaged portion of the hernia disc. A person will heal fully after undergoing this surgery.

2. Quick recovery time

Most spine-related surgeries take a longer recovery time. But not in Microdiscectomy. This is unique as a person can leave the hospital on the same day. One needs to take a few precautions as advised by the doctors.

Before the discharge, surgeons would advise you to do certain do’s and don’ts

Some common advice of most surgeons are:

1. You may have to avoid heavy work and lifting heavyweights. It might elevate the strain on the spine.

2. An effort must have to be made to keep the area always dry.

3. There are certain restrictions on daily movements like sitting. One may be advised to sit only for 45 mins.

4. You may be asked to do a follow up after 8-10 days.

The success rate of Microdiscectomy has made it the most popular spine-related surgery. It is good at keeping your spine healthy for a long time.

Endoscopic Discectomy

Endoscopic Discectomy

The spine is your body’s most essential organ. It is the spine which helps in anything from waking till sleeping. It is very common for everyone to experience back and neck pain at some point in life. Most of the times it will go away on its own. But when it doesn’t go on its own your Spine needs special care. This can happen with constant pain in your spine. In such a situation, it is best to go for special care. The spine health may get affected due to age and other factors.

In this scenario, one needs to consult a specialist for spinal surgery.

Endoscopic Discectomy is surgery performed on your Spine. Another common name for Endoscopic Discectomy is Endoscopic spine surgery. This is different from other spine-related surgeries. Amongst all the spine related surgeries, it is the least invasive form of surgery. In this surgery, the herniated disc material is removed. This is the material which causes pain in your lower back, legs, mid-back and arms. It has emerged as the best form of surgery to treat Spinal disc herniation. Sometimes it also keeps you away from more serious back surgery.

Its Benefits.

1. Lesser Infection.

It is common to develop an infection in any major surgery. Such is not the case here. In Endoscopic Discectomy, there is a minimal risk of infection. The infection is low as it is performed on a smaller area of your spine. The incision made too is very small. As this is a more contained form of surgery hence lesser risk of infection.

2. Lower rehabilitation period.

Most surgeries require you to spend some time in the hospital. In Endoscopic Discectomy a patient can go home on the same day. This can happen a few hours after surgery.

3. Very little pain medication needed.

Pain and surgery go hand in hand. This is not the case with Endoscopic Discectomy. The pain is little as the incision is very small. Being a small one feels very less pain.

It would be wise to say that Endoscopic Discectomy is the best and safest form of surgery. One can lead a normal life after this surgery.

It is ideal to go to the best Doctor for Spine surgery. Dr Kalyan offers the best in equipment to perform the surgery. Any surgery is done after a proper consultation only.

HD Endoscope- Spinal

HD Endoscope- Spinal

The spinal cord is the most essential organ in the body. It is with the help of the spine that one can sit, walk and stand up. The spine should always be healthy but sometimes it might get afflicted with ailments like back pain and spinal damage. In such a scenario it becomes necessary for the person to undergo surgery. Today technology has made it possible to have safe and secure spine surgery.

Traditional spine surgery is painful and recovery time is very long. But this is no longer the case. HD Endoscope is the most common form of spine surgeries. This is the least invasive form of surgery

HD Endoscope is high definition enabled surgery. In this, a high definition camera is inserted in the spine. This helps give the view of the full spine and its problem areas. One can diagnose several problems like sciatica pain and spine damage. The image is viewed by the surgeon on the screen. This helps in performing the surgery more accurately. The HD camera is inserted through a small hole. It is the most used technique to find bone ailments like back and spine pain

Its benefits:

Today most spine surgeons vouch for this technology. A blend of technology and surgery has transformed the field of surgery.

Some of its benefits are:

1. No General anaesthesia.

In traditional surgeries, general anaesthesia was a common process. But this is not the case in HD Endoscope based spine surgery. One can go for local anaesthesia. It has been made possible as the spine surgeon views the area on which surgery is to be performed accurately. So, it only affects that and not the overall spine.

2. No blood loss.

It is common to assume that there will be a huge blood loss. In this new surgery, there is a very little blood loss. The cut is very small so the blood loss is very little.

3. No scarring.

Scars were common in traditional surgery. It is not the case with HD Endoscope- spine surgery. As the cut is small the chance of scarring decreases.

4. Preserves spine health.

It also preserves spine health. There is no side effect of this surgery. The spine would maintain the same agility and motion after this surgery.

5. Quick recovery

In traditional surgeries, it takes longer to recover. In HD endoscope surgery, the recovery will take only a few days. A person can go back to resume normal work after this surgery in a few days

The technology used in HD Endoscope is still young. But it has proven its effectiveness and success in spine surgery. Most hospitals today use this technique to do spine surgeries.

HD Endoscope- Cranial.

HD Endoscope- Cranial.

There have been many surgical techniques employed by Brain surgeons to heal brain ailments. The technology has advanced tremendously and it has also transformed the Brain surgery. The brain is the most complicated anatomical regions of the body. The cranial is an important part of the Brain. A cranial is located under the brain. This is the most important tool in dealing with skull-based brain surgery. Most surgeons today use the latest methods to heal common ailments like a Brain tumour. The HD Endoscope for cranial is the most advanced technique. This will work on most brain ailments.

In HD Endoscope, a small camera is inserted in the brain. This transmits the image of the brain on the surgeon’s computer. This is the variant of minimum invasive technology. It gives the complete HD video imaging with a full picture of the cranial. This can work on both working and non-working channels. There are micro-instruments in the HD Endoscope allows surgeons to view the Tumour accurately.

This works well if one has to know the precise location of the tumour. This makes it a revolutionary invention in the field of brain surgeries.

Its benefits:

There are many benefits of HD Endoscope. In earlier times it was hard to surgery which such accuracy as there were no means to view it the brain’s structure. This is possible with HD Endoscope.

It is very good at removing various endoscopic processes which were not possible earlier.

1. It is good at removing tumours present in the base of the brain. It removes intraventricular cyst or tumour with accurate precision. This guarantees the success of tumour completely.

2. The base of the skull is hard to study without the help of equipment. An HD endoscope helps in making transnasal access to the pituitary gland and skull base.

3. At the same time, it acts as a guide in performing high-risk interventions. A surgeon can view the image of a brain on the screen. This in-turn helps in performing the operations on the high-risk areas like a skull.

4. This also boosts the overall safety of neurological surgeries. They are more precise and successful.

5. It also helps in reducing the complications associated with brain surgery.

6. It also boosts the recovery rate in such surgeries.

It is no wonder then that this has become the newest standard for surgery. The most hospitals would go for HD Endoscope based surgery. These have made brain surgeries very safe.

Intracranial Pressure Monitoring

Intracranial Pressure Monitoring

The Brain is a very complex system. It consists of nerves as well as fluids. The fluid in the Brain is called Cerebrospinal fluid. This is necessary as it forms a cushion that keeps the Brain and Spinal cord from accidental injury. It also delivers vital nutrients in the body and removes waste from the Brain. This liquid gets continuously absorbed by the bloodstream. Sometimes a problem in the brain can cause this fluid to rise and dip.

Normal Intracranial pressure should be between 5 to 15 mm Hg. The process to measure the spinal fluid is known as Intracranial pressure monitoring. This is the latest technology used by Brain surgeons to monitor the brain’s pressure level. This is performed by neurologists in special circumstances. In this ICP monitoring, a small pressure-sensitive probe is inserted in the skull. This helps in understanding the Brain’s fluid level.

In Intracranial pressure monitoring, an intraventricular catheter is inserted in the Brain through a small hole. This is a tube-like structure giving the accurate reading of spinal fluid. This helps the surgeon in deciding if the pressure in Brain is high or low.

Most neurosurgeons would recommend this only in certain special conditions like Brain Trauma or Brain tumour. It gives the most accurate Intracranial pressure at the time of the procedure itself. This plays an essential role in diagnosing and monitoring brain conditions.

The Intracranial pressure may vary if a person is sleeping. In some conditions, it may also change if the brain has a tumour.

This is not a usual technique but is rather much more efficient than the traditional methods. Most surgeons would recommend this only if;

1. Someone who has an elevated TBI without any reason. In this situation, a person will not have cerebral edema or intraventricular haemorrhage.

2. A person has a lesion in the back of the skull. This test diagnosis can confirm the presence of a tumour

3. A person has sudden undergone sudden brain trauma like an accident on the head.

In all these scenarios, The ICP level would read as 20 mm Hg. It helps neurosurgeons in giving the right line of treatment. It is done, before and after every brain surgery. ICP shows fluid level as higher than after the surgery. It is to check if decompressive craniectomy has lessened after the surgery.

It is the most used technique used by brain surgeons. It is a way to know that surgery is successful.
