GPT-4 may have only just launched, but people are already excited about the next version of the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot technology. Now, a new claim has been made that GPT-5 will complete its training this Chat GPT year, and could bring a major AI revolution with it. According to Business Insider, OpenAI is expected to release the new large language model (LLM) this summer. What’s more, some enterprise customers who have access to the GPT-5 demo say it’s way better than GPT-4. “It’s really good, like materially better,” according to a CEO who spoke with the publication.
Altman hinted that GPT-5 will have better reasoning capabilities, make fewer mistakes, and “go off the rails” less. He also noted that he hopes it will be useful for “a much wider variety of tasks” compared to previous models. Altman says they have a number of exciting models and products to release this year including Sora, possibly the AI voice product Voice Engine and some form of next-gen AI language model. Each new large language model from OpenAI is a significant improvement on the previous generation across reasoning, coding, knowledge and conversation. Much of the most crucial training data for AI models is technically owned by copyright holders. OpenAI, along with many other tech companies, have argued against updated federal rules for how LLMs access and use such material.

Elon Musk, an early investor in OpenAI also recently filed a lawsuit against the company for its convoluted non-profit, yet kind of for-profit status. `A customer who got a GPT-5 demo from OpenAI told BI that the company hinted at new, yet-to-be-released GPT-5 features, including its ability to interact with other AI programs that OpenAI is developing.
